Super Secret Project
We will be working on some super secret projects in 1st grade for the next couple of days. These projects may get a little messy so I request that students bring a change of clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Especially with the next 2 days of dressing up for the Winter Performance-- we don't want to mess up their clothing. Students have written in their agenda "super secret project t-shirt." A big tshirt, apron, or smock will do just fine. Hopefully you'll see the outcome of our super secret project over winter break ;). Spelling & Sight Words There will be no spelling words for this week. I did assign sight words though and the list has been placed in your child's red folder. Students will be assessed on Friday, December 21st. Winter Music Performance The first grade will be performing on the 18th and the 19th. There will be two performances on Tuesday, December 18th. There will be a morning show during school hours at 8:30am that families are invited to come to. There will also be an evening show on the 18th at 6:00pm that is open to Lenart families as well. Attendance for the evening show is not mandatory. On Wednesday the 19th, the first grade students will be performing for the rest of the school in the morning. For both of these days, please make sure that your child is dressed within the requirements that Mr. Coulter has established. All students must wear a white dress shirt, black bottoms, and black shoes. If you have any questions about the performances or dress requirements, please reach out to Mr. Coulter by calling the school at 773-535-0040 or email him at [email protected] Classroom Germs Unfortunately our class has been hit by the sick-bug again and several students have been absent and/or complaining of feeling ill. I ask that we all be proactive in dressing the kiddos appropriately for school. Unless weather does not permit, students will be going outside for recess so please make sure they are dressed warmly! Winter Break The last day of school before winter break is Friday, December 21st. Winter Break will be from December 24th to January 4th. Students will return back in the new year on January 7th. Please let me know if your child will be not in attendance on next week due to travel or other personal reasons. I would like to get a headcount for some fun winter activities for us to do leading up to winter break and need to buy the appropriate amount of materials. Other updates Students in the classroom have been very "touchy" in class and sometimes in not so appropriate ways. Several students want to hug everyone and it has sometimes moved to kissing each other. In class we have been discussing how not everyone wants to be hugged/touched and you must ask for permission to hug someone and how if no one is able to touch you without your consent. I welcome you to have these same conversations at home with the students.
