Hi first grade families!
November is such a crazy month with all of the non-attendance days for students. These two weeks (week of November 12th and week of November 19th) only have five school days. This upcoming Wednesday, November 14th is a non-attendance day of students as the day will be dedicated to Report Card conferences. Thank you to everyone who has signed up online. If for whatever reason, you need a reminder or need to change the time: please feel free to update on the website. If we need to make alternative arrangements, then please let me know :). Next week, we will only have school on Monday and Tuesday, November 19th and 20th respectively. The school will be closed from November 21st-23rd for Thanksgiving Break. Since our schedule is so hectic, I will be combining these two instructional weeks into one. What this means is that the sight words and spelling words given for this week will be extended until next week and students will be tested on Tuesday, November 20th. As we are going into Quarter 2, one of my goals is to return back student work in a more efficient manner. As I reflect onto Quarter 1, I returned work as they were graded into students red homework folders and realize this may not be best way to ensure the work is returning home. Moving forward, I will be returning graded work and completed rubrics on a weekly basis in a "portfolio folder" every Thursday. Please go though the folder of work, empty out the folder, leave comments as needed, and return the folder signed back to school with your child. Please be on the look out for this on Thursday :). Ms. Chin
