Only 7 more school days until Winter break-- but who's counting? Here are your updates for this week.
Winter Music Performance
A reminder that our winter performance will be next week. The first grade will be performing on the 18th and the 19th. There will be two performances on Tuesday, December 18th. There will be a morning show during school hours at 8:30am that families are invited to come to. There will also be an evening show on the 18th at 6:00pm that is open to Lenart families as well. Attendance for the evening show is not mandatory. On Wednesday the 19th, the first grade students will be performing for the rest of the school in the morning. For both of these days, please make sure that your child is dressed within the requirements that Mr. Coulter has established. All students must wear a white dress shirt, black bottoms, and black shoes. If you have any questions about the performances or dress requirements, please reach out to Mr. Coulter by calling the school at 773-535-0040 or email him at email@example.com
The winter NWEA schedule was given out and the school has begun NWEA testing. First grade will not be testing until after Winter Break in January. I will update you after break with the exact dates of testing.
Woohoo! Our school website is finally up and running! If you would like to visit the new school website, you can find it at www.lenart.cps.edu. On the school website, you will find the other Lenart staff members' email contacts. As a reminder, our classroom website for 1st grade is www.jchin3.weebly.com. On our classroom website, you will find these weekly email updates, daily homework posted, and additional information.
Students will be tested this Friday, December 14th on the following set of words: supply, corner, electric, insects, crops, tone, hit, sand, doctor, provide, thus, won't, cook, bones, mall, board, modern, compound, mine, wasn't
This week's spelling patterns follow the "controlled-r" pattern. Our words either have "-ar" or "-or." The words are star, cards, shark, large, chart, short, born, order, sport, and fork. Students will be assessed on Friday, December 14th on a total of FOURTEEN words. These 14 words will comprise of the 10 that were given above and an additional 4 that follow the spelling focus of "-ar" and "-or."
Unfortunately our class has been hit by the sick-bug again and several students have been absent and/or complaining of feeling ill. I ask that we all be proactive in dressing the kiddos appropriately for school. Unless weather does not permit, students will be going outside for recess so please make sure they are dressed warmly!
The last day of school before winter break is Friday, December 21st. Winter Break will be from December 24th to January 4th. Students will return back in the new year on January 7th. Please let me know if your child will be not in attendance on next week due to travel or other personal reasons. I would like to get a headcount for some fun winter activities for us to do leading up to winter break and need to buy the appropriate amount of materials.
